House Speaker Accused of Accepting $600,000 From ‘Corrupt’ Former Governor, James Ibori

The former chairman of the House of Rep representatives Committee on Appropriation, Abdulmumin Jibrin has accused Yakubu Dogara, of receiving $600,000 from James Ibori.

Speaker of the lower chamber, Hon Dogara was reported to have gotten the top job with the help of the former Deltan Governor, who was recently jailed for corruption in the UK.

Honourable Dogara has denied these claims.

Hon Jibrin who played a key role for Hon Dogara to emerge the 8th speaker, has previously accused the rep member for Bauchi and four other principal officer of corruption.

In a series of tweets posted to his 38.2K followers on New Year’s Eve, the member for Bebeji/Kiru in Kano state who was suspended from House duties, said :”It is such a shame that Speaker Dogara denied the fact that former Gov James Ibori provided huge support to his emergence as Speaker.

“Since he has disowned Ibori, he should at least have the honour to return the $600,000 Ibori donated to his speakership campaign.”
