Neil Gorsuch was publicly sworn in as the 113th justice in the history of the Supreme Court this morning.
The oath was administered by Justice Anthony Kennedy. Judge Gorsuch, the youngest Supreme Court nominee since 1991, worked for Justice Kennedy as a clerk as a up and coming lawyer.
Judge Gorsuch, President Trump’s pick to the fill the Supreme Court slot left open after the unexpected death of Justice Antonin Scalia, was sworn in by Chief Justice John Roberts.
After 14 months of racketing among the Democrats who say the seat was “stolen”, the 49 year-old and his wife Marie Louise Gorsuch attended a private ceremony at the Supreme Court building to take the oath for the position which will be for life.
The position would have gone to Judge Merrick Garland, however, the Republicans refused to act on his nomination.
