A man has been arrested over the murder of the conservative MP killed has he held a meeting at his constituency.

The man arrested on suspicion of killing Sir David Amees, 69, who has represented Southend in Essex since 1997, is a British man with Somali descent.

Police are not looking for anyone else, and they say that the suspect had previously been referred to the counter-terrorist Prevent scheme.
