ICYMI: AGF Malami Clarifies Issues Over Son’s Wedding Faitha

Abubakar Malami, SAN, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice says that contrary to media report circulating the web,  the wedding faitha of his son took place “under strict observations of the protocols and guidelines issued by the Presidential Taskforce Committee on COVID-19.”

An online media house, that has previously been sued for libel, alleged that the AGF, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria “made arrangements for a sizeable number of private jets to fly dignitaries from across the country to Kano State,” for the wedding ceremony taking place today.

The spokesperson of the AGF stated that it was untrue and a video obtained by DENISAURUS News showed the guest observing social distance.

Umar Jibrilu Gwandu, Special Assistant on Media and Public Relations Office AGF, in a statement said “the wedding faitha of the son of the Attorney-General of the Federation took place today.

“Honorable Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN thanked friends, well-wishers and the general public for their prayers and goodwill for the wedding faitha of his son which took place today in Kano.

“Malami expressed appreciation for the understanding that due to COVID-19 pandemic, the wedding faitha was low keyed.

“Earlier, the Minister has communicated in writing notifying friends and colleagues that due to the current situation of COVID-19 that guidelines and protocols by Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 he only solicited for their prayers and goodwill.”

This month, the AGF wrote a memo to the President seeking for the removal of Ibrahim Mustafa Magu, the acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Comiision, EFCC after failing to give a detail account for assets recovered during his tenure.

Mr Magu, 58, was asked severally on what he had done with recoveries and was unable to account for them when asked by the eight Senate and a former Minister of Finance.

Sources say billions of Naira and many assets have not be accounted by Mr Magu, a known “perennial offender,” who remains in custody and has not been released.

But those supporting Mr Magu and his media ally have now launched a dirty media war against the AGF, who was compelled by staff members to investigate their boss.
