Edward Onoja was sworn in as the new deputy Governor of Kogi State, following his confirmation by the House of Assembly today.

Mr Onoja, the former Chief of Staff to Governor Yahaya Bello,  replaces Simon Achuba, who was “illegally” removed from office.

Mr Achuba, who has been at loggerheads with Governor Bello was cleared by a panel set up to investigate allegations of gross misconduct.

Despite being exonerated by the panel led by John Baiyeshea, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, the Majority Leader of the House still went ahead to announce his removal from office on Friday.

Mr Achuba has promised to seek redress through the court.
