A young student from Kano State who was arrested and detained in Saudia Arabia for alleged drug trafficking has been released.
Saudi Arabia, an Islamic state has a strict law for drug traffickers, but in this case, the heavy package of Tramadol found in Zainab Aliyu’s luggage might have been planted by a syndicate at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano.
The Nigerian President then asked the Attorney General of Federation to facilitate her release.
Two other people arrested along with the student of Maitama Sule University, Kano, are also set to be released to the Nigerian Government.
A media aide to President Muhammadu Buhari confirmed her release today. Bashir Ahmad made the disclosure via his twitter handle.
He said: “The Federal Government has secured the release of Zainab Habibu Aliyu who was arrested in Saudi Arabia for alleged drug trafficking. Details soon from Ministry of Foreign Affairs.”
