Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, 56, will remain Governor of Sokoto state after defeating Aliyu Ahmed of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the rerun election that held on Saturday. 

DENISAURUS News understands that the 56-year-old secured victory with a total of 341 votes.

The incumbent Governor, a member of the APC who defected back to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in 2018, would be sworn in with other Governor-elect later in the year. He beat the APC candidate 25,857 to 25,515.

The final results, an addition of the rerun showed that the Governor received 512,002 to defeat his nearest rival who secured 511,661.
