Sani Abubakar Danladi who is currently serving as a lawmaker representing Taraba North Senatorial District, suffered a huge devastating setback today, in his bid to become the next Governor of Taraba.

Senator Danladi, a former Acting Governor who is standing as the Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC battling against the incumbent Governor, a leading member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was disqualified from contesting in the election by a court in Jaliongo.

DENISAURUS News understands that Senator Danladi, is accused of falsifying his age in a document sent to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

In a suit Number FHC/JAL/CS/1/2019 filed on January 9, 2019, heard by Judges at the Federal High Court sitting in Jalingo, in an affidavit sworn by the lawmaker, he claimed that he was born on February 14, 1968, however, in the West African Senior School Certificate he submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission indicating that he was born on April 3, 1977.

Justice Steven Pam ruled that the information given by the lawmaker “on his age in the affidavit in support of his personal particulars in the INEC Form CF001 submitted to the 3rd defendant (INEC) by him is hereby declared false.

“That the 1st defendant is hereby disqualified from contesting the election as the candidate of the 2nd defendant (APC) in the governorship election for Taraba State slated for March 9, 2019 or any subsequent date to be slated on the ground that the information contained in the affidavit in support of the 1st defendant’s personal particulars in the INEC Form CF001 submitted to the 3rd defendant as to his age is false.”

Sources close to the lawmaker told reporters that the judgement will be appealed.
