Oil magnet, Dapo Abiodun has been selected as the Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Ogun state.
Prince Abiodun MFR, polled 102, 305 votes, compared with 51, 153 votes for Jimi Lawal and 23, 443 votes for Adekunle Akinlade.
There was news that Mr Akinlade, the consensus candidate of Governor Ibikunle Amosun had earlier been declared the winner of the primaries, but authorised officials of the party denied any other elections had taken place aside to the one conducted by the constituted National Working Committee(NWC) panel.
The Muhammad Ndabawa-led eight-man electoral committee assigned to Ogun State by the National Working Committee(NWC) said: “As far as APC is concerned, this committee is the constituted one for the conduct of the election by the party.
“If there’s any election for the emergence any other candidate, we are not aware of it in Ogun State, rather than the one so announced by this committee.”
Prince Abiodun, 58-year-old who was recently awarded an honorary Doctorate Degree in Finance from the Adeleke University, Ede will now contest the Governorship election in 2019, facing contenders such Oladipupo Adebutu- Kessington, a House of Representative member who has been selected as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
