Saraki: I Will Make Nigerians Proud – If Elected President

Bukola Saraki believes Nigerians will be proud of their country if he is elected as President.

Mr Saraki, the President of the eight senate, is one of 12 aspiring candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, hoping to challenge President Muhammadu Buhari at the polls next year.

At the launch of his presidential campaign last month, he stated that “our economy is broken and is in need of urgent revival in order for Nigeria to grow.

“GDP growth rate has declined. Diversification remains an illusion. Unemployment is at an all-time high.”

The 55-year-old believes he has a plan that will #GrowNigeria, thus, he is seeking the support of Nigerians in order to actualise his plans, which he says will make Nigerians proud of their country again.

At a meeting with Benue State Working Committee of the PDP today, the 55 year-old trained medical doctor argued that it was time Nigerians elect a leader they can be proud of.

“It is time to have a leader that is capable, it is time to have a leader, when you see a president talk and stand, you will say I am proud that is my president.”

He noted that he was that leader and called for “support to become the presidential candidate of the PDP and to become the next president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” in the elections scheduled to hold in February 2019.

He said: “It is time that we lead. It is time that we provide leadership for this country.

“See, when you need a friend, I am here at any time to support the people of Benue state. I have shown it and I will continue to show it, because today in Nigeria, we are at a cross road. We need to unite this country. We need to make everybody have a sense of belonging.

“We need to ensure that we are all sitting equally on the table of Nigeria. Nobody is going to protect us more than ourselves, nobody is going to develop us more than ourselves, nobody is going to care for us more than ourselves.

“It is our ambition because I know with your support, if I am there, Benue state is there. You know I will not allow any harm to come to Benue state.”

The former Governor of Kwara who is now in Nasarawa State, where he paid a visit to the survivors of today’s horrific gas explosion.

“My thoughts and prayers remain with the families that lost loved ones today,” he said, adding that he will continue to support the State Government to ensure the speedy and full recovery of the all the victims.
