Ibrahim Mustafa Magu, the Acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, found it hard to stomach when he discovered that his friends were vying for his job.
DENISAURUS News learned that friends of Mr Magu named: ACP Ishaq Salihu, former South- South Zonal Head of the EFCC, ACP Ayo Ajala, Director of Organisation Support (Admin), CSP Johnson Babalola and CSP Bashir Dalhatu – who are on secondment at the anti-graft agency, all want to become the next Chief Executive Officer of the EFCC.
The anti-graft boss, whose nomination as the fourth chairman of the agency was rejected twice by the Senate, reportedly got wind of the threat to his job and immediately decided to remove the individuals clamouring to take over from him.
All the men have since been returned back to their mother organisation, which is the Nigerian Police Force, NPF.
Mr Salihu, a source argues is a front for the Borno Commissioner of Police, whom the Department of State Security Service, DSS describes as a “perennial offender” and a “liability to the anti-corruption crusade.”
Insiders say Mr Magu came into the office, walked straight into Mr Salihu’s office and ordered him to come out. The anti-graft boss, then locked the door and went away with the key, leaving Mr Salihu stranded out of his office. Thus making him board a commercial taxi out of the EFCC premises.
A police source close to Mr Salihu who gave the information of the redeployment in a telephone interview with DENISAURUS News said Mr Magu “uses and dumps people.”
The bold whistleblower said it’s like when he moved CSP Iliyasu Kwarbai, former Lagos Zone Head, and similarly after using CSP Ishaku Sharu for so many corrupt activities, Mr Magu went ahead and posted him to Lagos without portfolio, and made him redundant.

EFCC sources say things first went sour for the friends when Mr Salihu, an Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP allegedly threatened to expose their (Magu and himself) dodgy dealings.
The staff claims that Mr Salihu then began making underground moves to become the chairman of the EFCC, since Mr Magu had failed to be confirmed by NASS Senate, due to the indicting report from the secret police.
It also turned out that Mr Ajala, also an ACP had made moves to submit his CV to the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo. Although, DENISAURUS News discovered that his application was later rejected.
It is not certain why Mr Dalhatu (crony of erstwhile Chair Ibrahim Lamorde), a Chief Superintendent of Police was returned back to the NPF. CSP Babalola, whom the source described as an “amebo and lackey” to Mr Magu, was also returned but the reason is unknown to this Newspaper.
According to our EFCC source, in an effort of concealing the memo of desecondment, Mr Magu had personally delivered it to the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris.
Fortunately, DENISAURUS News, who has published other news about the corruption and Impunity of Mr Magu exclusively, was the first to have access to the exposé.
Mr Magu and the spokesperson of the commission, Wilson Uwujaren, did not reply to a request for comment as at the time of publishing this article.
Despite being rejected by the Senate, Mr Magu remains in office.
The first rejection was in December 2015, but the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo forwarded his name to the Senate for a second time. The second nomination, like the first was rejected on March 15, 2017.

At a recent Senate Committee meeting, the Director General of the secret police, Lawal M Daura, had inferred that Mr Magu was running the anti-graft agency based on marabouts, gossips and political interference, thereby confirming another story we had written in April 2017 on how the rejected EFCC boss had imported marabouts from Niger.
