Dino Melaye, an activist lawmaker, who exposed corruption within the executive arm of government has been granted bail based on health challenges.

Senator Melaye, 44, who represents Kogi West Senatorial District, was arrested in April and was refused bail.

Ricky Tarfa, Senator Melaye’s lawyer told the court today: “The magistrate court at Lokoja refused him bail, and ordered that he should be remanded in police custody.

“He approached the high court and that court adjourned until May 16 (today) to rule on his bail application.”

Justice Nasiru Ajanah, The Chief Justice of Kogi State High Court, upturned the decision of the lower court to deny the lawmaker bail.

Mr Melaye’s was offered bail in the sum of N10m. He is to provide a surety with the same amount.
