Pictures have surfaced online of injured Senator Dino Melaye, an outspoken lawmaker known for speaking the truth about corruption.
The lawmaker, whose home was under police siege last night, was reportedly manhandled by officers, as they were about to take him to an unknown destination.
An eyewitness only identified as Peter, said: “I was there at Area 1 when the police vehicle stopped somewhere and amid the confusion, there were shouts of ‘shoot him, shoot him.'”
The Nigerian Police is yet to give a statement on the matter.
Senator Melaye, an outspoken anti-corruption crusader has exposed massive corruption within the Executive arm of government.
The representative for Kogi-West Senatorial District also lambasted the Kogi state Government for failing to pay salaries – an act that saw him go out of favour with Governor Yahaya Bello.
He escaped an assassination on his life, only to be charged for misinformation.
The 44-year-old father of three young children, believes its an attempt to stop him from talking.
Seen as the voice of the masses, Senator Melaye continues to talk about corruption – an issue which DENISAURUS News has constantly reported on.
This paper having gained the confidence of staff of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has published exclusively the corrupt act of the acting chair, Ibrahim Mustafa Magu.
Many of the allegations have since been confirmed by the Department of State Security Services.
Consequently, Mr Magu’s nomination as the fourth substantive chairman of the EFCC was rejected.
Based on the indicting report from the secret police and a poor performance at screening, DENISAURUS News understands that Senator Melaye was one of the lawmakers who voted against Mr Magu.
Staff members of the commission, who revealed much of the details of the act to this paper months before it was reported by the main stream media, are in support of Senator Melaye.
The lawmaker, a founder of the Occupy Nigeria, believes silence in the face of injustice is to side with an oppressor.
Recently, he exposed a secret account run by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC.
“While some individuals and government appointees will continue to steal, we have decided to continue to expose corruption in public life,” he said as he raised a motion demanding for the matter to be investigated.
