Governor Aminu Tambuwal’s spokesperson Imam Iman has died.
The 41-year-old veteran journalist died at about 3am on Friday at the Nizamieye Turkish Hospital in Abuja, the Sokoto Government announced this morning.
“Innallillahi wainah illahi rajuun. We regret to announce the death of Mallam Imam Imam who until his death was the Special Adviser Media to H.E Aminu Tambuwal.
“He died in the early hours of Friday at Nziamye Turkish Hospital in Abuja, after a brief illness,” a statement by the Sokoto State Government reads.
Mallam Imam, was the political editor for This Day Newspaper, before he was appointed spokesman between 2011 and 2015.
He was re-appointed as a media aide to Governor Tambuwal, when the former House of Representative member became the Governor of Sokoto.
The deceased, who is survived by two wives and four children, will be buried at An Noor Mosque Wuse 2, Abuja, immediately after Juma’at prayers at 1.00pm today.
Following the news of his passing, condolences have been streaming from political associates and friends.
Rinsola Abiola, a legislative aide to Yakubu Dogara, the Speaker of the House, described the deceased as “brother.”
She said: “Imam, for all you were and all you did, thank you. Allah (SWT) has chosen to end this chapter this way but I will never forget how amazing you were to me.
“You were always there like a brother to me and may Allah’s mercy be upon your soul, and His protection upon your family.”
