The Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson is cutting short his trip to Africa a day ahead of schedule.

Mr Tillerson, who has visited Chad, Kenya and Ethiopia in an attempt to strengthen bilateral relations in Africa, is expected in Nigeria – where he would hold discussions with President Muhammadu Buhari, in a few hours.

However, the 65-year-old, former CEO of ExxonMobil, is expected to leave the country on the same day.

Mr Tillerson was originally scheduled to return to the United States from Nigeria on Tuesday, 13, March, 2018.

The Under Secretary of State Steve Goldstein told reporters that: “Due to demands in the Secretary’s schedule, he is returning to the U.S. one day early after concluding official meetings in Chad and Nigeria.”
