By Abdul Tukur

A popular young motivational speaker, Fela Durotoye has thrown his hat in to become the next President of Nigeria.

Mr Durotoye, an Alumnus of the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University will be running under the party, Alliance for New Nigeria, ANN.

The last election was in 2015. It was the first time an incumbent President was defeated.

In 2019, Nigerians would return to the polls to elect a new President. It is not yet clear if the current head of state, President Muhammadu Buhari will seek re-election.

Donald Duke, a former Governor of Calabar has also declared interest in the top job.

But, father of three, Mr Durotoye believes he has what it takes to build a new Nigeria.

“We are young, but we are strong,” he said: “we are ready to deliver the quality of leadership; governance required to build a new Nigeria.”

Nicknamed Mr Nigeria, the 46-year-old promised “to build the Nigeria of our dreams.”

In a statement, he said building a Nigeria that works for all “would require exceptional candidates who would emerge from a pool of excellent; credible aspirants chosen by the people to represent them at the general elections.

“And so, over the last few months, I have researched into several political parties to determine if their ideologies, vision and values resonate with mine.

“I am glad to announce that one party has resonated more with me than any other in sharing common ideology, principles and a truly democratic internal political process that is open to all to aspire…

“A party that provides a level playing field for the best candidates to emerge at all levels for Legislative & Executive offices. That party is the Alliance For New Nigeria.”

  1. Thank you Denisarus news for your constant update. I, and I am sure other Nigerians hope the wave of new political parties and new faces in the political arena will make the “old and tired leaders” sit up and understand that Nigerians can no longer be fooled. It is important that those occupying public office in Nigeria are true leaders who will do not seek public office for their selfish interests but do so to steer Nigeria in the right direction.
