A man who appeared to be wearing an explosive belt has been shot dead in the the Subirats area.
Spanish authorities investigating an attack which left 13 people dead in Las Ramblas on Thursday, shot the man thought to be Younes Abouyaaqoub this afternoon.
The 22-year-old, Morrocan who deliberately drove a white van into dozens of people, displayed what turned out to be a fake explosive belt. According to media report, he shouted out “Allah Akbar, before he was shot.
Abouyaaqoub, the main suspect of the carnage that took place in the popular tourist destination in Barcelona, escaped on the night of the deadly attack and went on to hijack a car who he killed the owner.
