British Olympic high jump silver medalist Germain Mason has died after a motorcycle crash in Jamaica.

Mason, 34, who is believed to have been in a convoy with Usain Bolt, lost control of his bike, this morning.  He died instantly.

The Jamaica Constabulary confirmed the passing of the 34-year-old, who switched allegiances to represent Great Britain in 2006.

Mason won a silver medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympic games.

Andrew Holness, the Jamaican prime minister offered his “sincere condolences to the entire sporting fraternity.”
