A French police officer has been shot dead by a gunman, near Champs-Élysées, in Paris.

An eyewitness says that a man got out of a car and began shooting with a “Kalashniko.”

A second officer was injured. Police are currently searching the home of the gunman (Karim Cheurfi) who was reportedly killed after the attack.

President, François Hollande has called an emergency meeting with his Prime Minister and Interior Minister.

The attack comes days after a police officer, PC Keith Palmer, who was shot dead in a terrorist attack in Westminster, was buried.
