A Katsina State High Court in Funtua has sentenced the son on of a  former House of Representative member for Bakori/Danja constituency, to death by hanging.

Mu’mmar Tukur, 32, was convicted for stabbing Shafir Muktar to death with a knife on April 21, 2008.

Justice Abbas Bawale said the convict who had run away between 2008  and 2013, could not be granted leniency, as the court’s discretion was blocked by law. He directed that the plea be set to the state governor.

The prosecutor called five witnesses and tendered four exhibits which established the cause of death of the victim.

The Judge sentenced Mr Tukur to death because the prosecution had proved without reasonable doubt as required by law.
