The Member of Parliament for Copeland has resigned thereby triggering a by-election in the constituency.
Jamie Reed, who has been an MP since 2005 announced that he is leaving parliament to take up a job at the Sellafield nuclear plant as Head of Development and Community Relations.
The 43-year-old, a critic of Labour leader, Jeremy Corbyn resigned from front bench one the day Mr Corbyn was first elected as leader.
Today, he insisted that his decision had “absolutely nothing” to do with Mr Corbyn’s leadership of the party.
