UPDATE: Opposition Leader Wins Ghanaian Elections

Nana Akufo-Addo  of the New Patriotic Party has won the December 7 elections.

The President-elect won the elections with 5,179,174 54.69 of the votes to defeat the incumbent President, John Dramani Mahama of the  National Democratic Congress.

Mr Akufo-Addo’s party also won 125 parliamentary seats, while the NDC was reduced to 70.

In a tweet, the President-elect said he had received a call from President Mahama.

“A few minutes ago, I received a call from President @JDMahama congratulating me on winning the 2016 Presidential Election. #ChangeHasCome.”
