Goodluck Jonathan turned 59 yesterday, November 20, 2016.

Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, sent a message of goodwill to Mr Jonathan, where he described the former President and leader of the People’s Democratic Party as a “as a colossus in the nation’s democratic experience.”

Mr Wike said he hopes Mr Jonathan “will continue to be a source of pride and inspiration to Nigerians and other Africans, as his democratic legacy stands in sharp contrast to the darker forces of impunity.”

The 14th President of Nigeria also took to social media to wish himself a happy birthday.

“I thank my God who has enabled me live up to age 59. To Him alone be the glory.

“Let me also appreciate those world leaders and statesmen who have wished me well on this day as well as my beloved Nigerian people who have shown me a great outpouring of love.

“What am I without my people? I thank you all and as you remember my birthday with me, my prayers are that God will also reward you.”
