Popular blogger Abubakar Usman publisher of Abusidiqu.com is to be released after he was arrested from his Abuja home in an arrest led by an operative of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Sambo M. Mangana for posting a story against the commission’s acting chairman.

In the early hours of this morning, August 8th,  Abusidiq  who has helped Adenike Lucas to raise allegation of corruption by concerned senior EFCC staff members, was taken away in the presence of his family, without staying their reason for doing so.

In a press statement just released by the EFCC, it states that Abubakar Sidiq Usman was arrested “for offences bordering on cyber stalking.”

Although the full details as to what particular lawyer the Kubwa based blogger broke, othe he “has already been offered administrative bail and would be released to his elected sureties.”

On August 2, 2016, Abusidiqu published a report on his online platform, which stated that the EFCC acting Chairman was venting his frustrations against the staff of the commission for his non confirmation as a substantive chairman of the commission.

Operatives from the anti-graft are said to have confiscated both Abusidiq’s laptop and phones.

A trending harshtag #FreeAbusidiq raised an awarness of the young man’s arrest.

Consequently, popular twitter users including Ayourb aka the Godfather dashed to the EFCC commission where they were reassured that the blogger would be released in a few minute.

Bashir Ahmad ‏@BashirAhmaad, a Personal Assistant of President Buhari  tweeted differently to say that” @MrAbuSidiq had not been arrested by the EFCC. Mr Ahmad claimed that Abusidiq “was only invited to answer some questions, he’ll be with us soon.”

Many twitter users are still suspicious about the detention of the blogger. A source who did not want to be named said the EFCC was “shooting the messenger,” instead of tackling the issues raised in the write up published by Abusidiq.

Ogbeni Megadon ‏@Da_Megadon twitted at “@BashirAhmaad asking if he saw “the invitation letter? So they storm someone house and ‘invite’ someone and make sure he honours immediately?”

Another PEACE4ALL ‏@AmunikoroAdebow said “@MrAbuSidiq should have been given notice before now.”
