Ibrahim Mustafa Magu, 57, is desperately fighting to keep his job at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, but he has been told in every word expressible by President Muhammadu Buhari, that he has to attend a mandatory course at National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS.

Mr Magu, a perennial offender, whom the Department of State Services wrote an indicting report on in 2016, preventing his confirmation as the fourth substantive chairman of the commission, is so desperate to stay at the Commission, he argues that he has recovered loads of money.
Those who support him claim that he is the face of President Buhari’s fight against graft. But those who work with him say he is a “log in the fight against corruption.”
Mr Magu, who rolls out achievements including the discovery of 49 Million Naira in a market in Kaduna has not been able to give accounts of all monies recovered.

This paper reported that when Kemi Adeosun, a former Finance Minister asked for account of recoveries, EFCC’s Magu could not provide her with any.
In our own editorial known as the DENISAURUS Views, the editor of this paper, Adenike Lucas, stated that she had known this about Mr Magu looting recoveries, and had written an exposé which was published on August 2, 2016, on Abusidiq blog.
The article stated then that a BACAB PLAZA beside KASUPDA HOUSE, Kaduna Central Market, Ahmadu Bello Way, Kaduna State belonging to Air Commodore Salisu Yushau, who is involved in the Arms Deal scandal were never declared to the EFCC Assets Forfeiture Unit. The story spread like wild fire!
“Even then, Mr Magu knew we were catching up on him and he spared us nothing. He sent his goons to arrest the popular blogger who published the story.”
“The aim of the arrest was to shut us up.” However, having gained the confidence of hundreds of EFCC staff members, Miss Lucas was all the more determined to expose the internal corruption within the commission, fueled by Mr Magu.

The anti-graft boss, also at his confirmation, was not able to give lawmakers answers about recoveries.
A serving senator described the “shameful” screening as a failure.
âMagu came for a job interview and failed and a result, he was rejected by the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. As I speak to you, Magu is still parading himself as the chairman of the EFCC despite the rejection by the Senate.
âThose who have failed should go back. Magu is not the only Nigerian angel. They should bring another person, we will examine him and pass him if qualified. Maguâs mates are Area Commanders and DPOs. He can serve this country in other capacities,â Senator Dino Melaye, who currently represents Kogi-West said back in July 2017.
Yet, Mr Magu hoped to stay put at the anti-graft commission. He is not happy that his plans to remain at the anti-graft agency till he attains 60 years, the age of retirement has been scuttled by those pushing for his move to Kuru, Jos where NIPSS is based.
Sources say even police colleagues are fed up with Mr Magu’s bullying and harassment. They say he has “deceitfully” kept some of their salaries from them.
One of the officers, who agreed to speak to our reporters only on the condition of anonymity, said that most of their salaries is diverted to private pocket. “We don’t see it.”
The police officer added: “Mr Magu has a bad reputation at the Nigeria Police Force. He does not want to come back there. He wants to stay at the EFCC, where he is a boss and can even if he wants, investigate our Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu. ”

Several petitions have been written against the Borno-born Commissioner of Police, whose promotion was exclusively published by DENISAURUS News before it was announced by the Police Service Commission, PCS.

The promotion means he has to attend NIPSS, although twice, he has avoided attending the course, Â with the help of a top government official.

The Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo is now not able to help Mr Magu as he himself is facing severe allegations of corruption from the cabal.

Mr Magu, this paper understand was given a letter from the Presidency on Wednesday 23 October 2019, which the present IGP Adamu also endorsed. EFCC sources believe it is the letter authorising him to proceed to NIPSS.
It is understood that Mr Magu does not have the degree he claims to have. While Mr Magu claimed to have studied at the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, ABU, Zaria, the anti-graft agency’s website claimed he attended University of Maiduguri. The site was quickly changed after our exposĂ© in 2016.

In the past, Professor Osinbajo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and “exPastor”, was able to keep Mr Magu in office despite an indicting DSS report.
The secret police under erstwhile Director General, Lawal M Daura, had in October 2016, written a detailed report to the NASS Senate, intimating on the need to reject the nomination of EFCCâs Magu as the Chair of the Anti-graft agency.
DSS had warned that the anti-graft boss should not be confirmed, because he lives a âDouble-Lifeâ, as such, he is a âperennial offender and would be a liability on the Anti-corruption Fight of the present administration.â
Today, EFCCâs Magu has continued to superintendent over the revered Anti-graft Agency, even though, he was never confirmed by Senior Lawmakers at the NASS 8th Senate. All thanks to former âpastorâ, who remain as support clutches to anti-graft boss.
Many of Mr Magu’s desperate move have been exclusively reported in this news media. This paper understands that the anti-graft boss will be off to NIPSS in the first week of November 2019. A close associate of Mr Magu confided to reporters of this paper, that he is scampering and looking for a way to stop it from happening.

Mr Magu born on May 5th, 1962, who is due to retire at the age of 60, was accused by the group of âexposing privileged information to those who should not be allowed access (media allies).â
The ârejectedâ anti-graft boss who was strategically appointed to cover up corruption cases for a ruling party chieftain, has failed to comply with legal regime framework as required by the EGMONT Group.
