The Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara on Saturday condoled the death of the former President of the Court of Appeal.Â
Mamman Nasir, 90, the District Head of Malumfashi in Katsina State, was appointed to the Court of Appeal in 1978. He was later appointed to the bench of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in 1975.
The death of the jurist has now been confirmed by the Information Officer, Katsina Emirate Council, Alhaji Ibrahim Bindawa.
Honourable Dogara who spoke through his media aide said: “His death will surely leave a huge vacuum that will be difficult to fill.”
“I condoled with the government and people of Katsina State as well as Katsina Emirate Council and prayed God to grant his soul eternal rest and his immediate family, the fortitude to bear the loss.
“The death of Justice Mamman Nasir & former President of the Court of Appeals is a monumental loss. He was a legal icon & courageous jurist who served Nigeria meritoriously & contributed immensely to the development of the law & independence of the judiciary.”
