One Dead As Jets Rehearsing For 58th Independence Day Parade Crash In Abuja

The Nigerian Air force has confirmed the passing of a pilot who was involved in a crash today.

Residents said that two jets taking part in the rehearsals for the 58th Independence Day Celebration crashed along an expressway in Kubwa, Abuja this morning.

At the time, the Air Force said there were no casualties. However, a few minutes ago, the Director of Public Relations and Information Headquarters Nigerian Air Force has now confirmed the passing of one of the pilots.

The other two pilots who were also involved in the accident are said to be in a stable condition.

Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, @KunleDaramola3 in a statement on Twitter, said: “It is with a heavy heart that I regretfully announce that one of the pilots who successfully ejected from one of the F-7Ni aircraft that crashed earlier today has passed on. May his soul RIP. Additional details on the incident will be communicated later. Thank you.”

The message was also retweeted by the @NigAirForce verified account.
