Some residents living in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom gathered today, to welcome the Senate President, Bukola Saraki to the state.
Senator Saraki, 55, a former Governor of Kwara, who recently joined the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP from the All Progressives Congress, APC, received cheerful greetings and songs from fans on his arrival.
The lawmaker said it was “great to be back in Akwa Ibom.”

Senator Saraki, who was bestowed with the title of Waziri of Ilorin by the Emir last month, arrived in the south-south state with Senator Dino Melaye, the representative for Kogi West Senatorial District and Biodun Olujimi, a fellow lawmaker from Ekiti.
DENIAURUS News understands that serving members of the Federal and State House of Assemblies; former Senators; former Honourable Members; and the State Executive Council in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State are part of the audience Senator Saraki is expected to address.
The 55-year-old trained medical doctor, is making an address to party elders in the capital of Akwa Ibom days after a former Governor of the state decamped from the PDP to join the APC.
Some reporters claim that former PDP chieftain, Godswill Akpabio, who became the member for Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District after the last elections, abandoned the opposition party for fear of persecution from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC led by Ibrahim Mustafa Magu.
President Muhammadu Buhari who was elected in 2015, with a campaign promise to fight corruption, has been accused of using Mr Magu’s EFCC to attack members of the opposition.

The “corrupt” EFCC boss whose nomination as fourth chairman of the Commission was rejected by lawmakers due to an indicting report from the Department of State Service, had in the past interfered in an attempt to investigate Senator Akpabio, DENISAURUS News reports.
This information was derived from an audio, sent to this paper. In the tape, the younger sibling of Senator Akapabio was bragging about his links to Mr Magu, who is described as a perennial offender and a liability to the corruption fight.
