The Speaker of Plateau State House of Assembly, Peter Azi, has been impeached

Mr Azi, a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, who represents Jos North-West was impeached on Wednesday by 17 out of the 24 member allegedly over the  extension of the tenure of Local Government Caretaker Committee chairmen.

Joshua Izang Madaki, a legal practitioner who represents Jos East constituency has been elected as the new speaker.

Henry Yunkwap, the Majority leader has also been removed. He was replaced by Daniel Nanlong, a lawmaker who represents Mikang constituency.
