A 48-year-old man has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Makram Ali, 51.
Darren Osborne, who deliberately ploughed into pedestrians coming from a popular Mosque in Finsbury Park on the last 10 days of Ramadan last year, will serve a minimum term of 43 years behind bars.
Today, Mr Ali’s daughter Ruzina Akhtar, said: “Our father, like the victims of most terrorism, was entirely innocent which makes his death in this violent way all the more hurtful.”
Speaking outside court, she said, Mr Ali “was such a peaceful and simple man, he had no bad thoughts for anyone.”
Osborne, of Glyn Rhosyn in Cardiff, who claims to have plotted the attack with others, left seven injured on the night of night of the attack (19 June, 2017) .
The father of four, admitted at the Woolwich Crown Court that he wanted to kill the leader of the Labour party, Jeremy Corbyn.
He said: “If Sadiq Khan would have been there it would have been even better, like winning the lottery.”
