The body of the late Vice-President, Alex Ekwueme will be returned to his family in Nigeria after a Memorial Service at St Marylebone Parish Church London on Saturday Jan. 27.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Boss Mustapha, gave this information to the press in Abuja on Thursday.
He said on arrival, the body of the 85-year-old, who died in London, will depart immediately to Enugu and will be received at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport by South-East governors.
A series of services will be held from Jan 30 – Feb 1 in Enugu to celebrate Dr Ekwueme, who became the first elected Vice-President in 1979 in Nigeria’s second republic.
According to the SGF, the lying in state of the elder statesman will take place on Feb. 2 and his funeral service will then hold at St. John the Divine Church, Oko on the same day.
