The popular mobile messaging service, Whats App appears to have shut down.
Users from across the world are currently unable to send or receive messages from the free app.
The editor of this news website, Adenike Lucas successfully sent a whats app message at 21:04 pm. A separate message she sent at 22:43 was not delivered.
A spokesperson for the chat app say they are working on resolving the problem.
Over one billion people from 180 countries make use of the Facebook-owned app for messaging and calling via their smart phone or desktop.
The last time Whats App shut down was in February 2014.
