The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, was absent from Wednesday’s government meeting.
Mr Fashola, SAN, and 14 other ministers did not turn up for The Fedderal Executive Council meeting, presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
The FEC meetings, made up of all government ministers is usually presided by Nigeria’s number one citizen, President Muhammadu Buhari – but he was not present.
Audu Ogbeh (Agriculture), Chris Ngige (Labour and Employment), Solomon Dalung (Youth and Sports), Suileman Adamu (Water Resources), Kayode Fayemi (Solid Minerals Development), Aisha Alhassan (Women Affairs), Okechukwu Enelamah (Trade, Investment and Industry), Mansur Dan-Ali (Defence), Udoma Udo Udoma (Budget and National) and Ogbonaya Onu (Science and Technology) were also absent from today’s cabinet meeting.
The information Minister, Lai Mohammed said people should not read too much into the President’s absence.
While addressing the press, Alhaji Mohammed said that the President was not there because he wanted “to rest.”
