Security services in Kyrgystan say the man behind Monday’s deadly bombing on the St Petersburg subway is a Kyrgyz-born Russian citizen.
Akbarjon Djalilov born in 1995, was said to have disguised the bomb as a fire extinguisher.
At least 14 people were killed and dozens were injured in what is reported to have been a suicide attack, however, it is now not clear if the bomber got away.
Russian President Vladimir Putin had been visiting St Petersburg for talks with Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko when the blast occurred.
He offered his condolences to the victims’ families, and convened a meeting with senior law enforcement officials to discuss the attack, state media reported.
