Nelson Mandela’s eldest grandchild has said she will no longer vote for South Africa’s governing party, the African National Congress, ANC,
Ndileka Mandela said the reason was because the ANC, did not hold the values that her grandfather fought for.
In an interview with News24 at the weekend, she said:”I will not be voting for something that does not resonate with me anymore, and does not resonate for what granddad and his comrades fought for.”
“It’s one scandal after the next and there’s no accountability. And our people suffer for it,” she went on to add.
Last year, the highest court in South Africa ruled that President Jacob Zuma, violated the constitution after he refused to repay taxpayers’ money used to refurbish his private home.
The court also condemned the ANC-dominated parliament for failing to hold Mr Zuma accountable.
Mr Zuma, leader of the ANC is also fighting a court order that could reinstate almost 800 corruption charges against him over a multi-billion dollar arms deal in the 1990s.
