Leaders of the National Assembly met with President Muhammadu Buhari, PMB earlier today.
Senate President Bukola Saraki and the speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, arrived at the presidential villa in Abuja, at 12pm, to brief Nigeria’s Commander in Chief of the events that took place in the Senate while he was on vacation.
Both lawmakers had also visited President Buhari in London before today’s closed door meeting.
Speaking after the meeting, Senator Saraki confirmed that “the President met with us. We were there for 40 minutes. I was not talking to myself. So, you know he was responding.”
He said the President “engaged us very well,” and they “discussed issues of national interest.”
Meanwhile, Senator Saraki announced at plenary today, that the confirmation hearing of Ibrahim Mustafa Magu, as the substantive chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, will take place tomorrow.
Lawmakers rejected Mr Magu’s nomination three months ago, but his name was represented to the Senate by the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo.
EFCC sources believe the likelihood of Mr Magu scaling through is “very very slim” due to the indicting security and corruption report against him.
