US President Donald Trump has asked Congress to investigate his predecessor who he accused of tapping his phones at Trump Towers.
The 70-year-old business mogul claimed in a series of tweets that Barack Obama ordered his phones to be tapped during the November elections, an allegation denied by the former president.
“How low has President Obama gone to tap my phones during the very sacred election process. This is Nixon/Watergate. Bad (or sick) guy!” @realDonaldTrump said in statement posted on his official twitter account, last night.
President Trump offered no evidence to back his claims but on Sunday, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer posted a statement on twitter to say that “President Trump is requesting that as part of their investigation into Russian activity, the congressional intelligence committees exercise their oversight authority to determine whether executive branch investigative powers were abused in 2016.”
