LIVE UPDATE: ONDO STATE GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION #Ondodecides2016

Voting has commenced in Ondo. Today the great people of Ondo State will vote to elect a new Governor.

DENISAURUS reporters are in Ondo state bringing live updates from the 18 local government, as it unfolds.

GOVERNOR-ELECT: AKETI

Mr Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN was announced winner of the  Ondo State election. Inauguration takes place in February 2017. 

18. ILAJE LGA

22, 789 AD and 7,030 APC

RESULT: AD WINS

OKE IS OKAY!

17. ESE-ODO LGA

Boat mishap caused loss of ballot papers in ESE-ODO which has 10 wards, however, RESULTS were not affected.

APC had 10,700 votes and PDP took 8,701. There were 1,175 rejected votes.

RESULT: APC WINS

16. AKURE SOUTH LGA

APC 25,797 and PDP 25,005. It was a smooth election. There were no cancellations.

15. ODIGBO LGA

Professor Abbas Ademola reads the results. Declares  17,581 for APC and PDP 8,668. There were 39, 174 registered voters in total.

Professor Ademola had to go over the results again to clear a few questions from the returning officer, Professor Ambali. He had made a mistake about the NUP’s vote (6).

14. IDANRE LGA

Professor Kayode presented the result for Idanre LGA where there were 112 polling units.

10,981 APC and PDP 7,575

13. OWO LGA

Naturally as the home of Akeredolu, we were reliably informed earlier that the APC candidate has won.

32,988 (APC) and PDP 4,241 (PDP) out of 118, 131 registered voters. There a turnout of up to 50% and there was only 2,000 invalid votes.

12. OKITIPUPA LGA

The candidate for the Alliance for Democracy, Olusola Oke has won in Okitipupa.

Barrister Oke has not done as well as expected in this elections.

He received 16,294 AD while APC 14, 930  received out of 43,709 votes cast.

There were rumours that Barr. Oke’s campaign was being funded by a few Governors from another party.

Sources in Ondo think this might have spoilt his chances!

11. AKOKO NORTH WEST LGA

13,048 for APC and 6,049 for the PDP

10. AKOKO SOUTH WEST LGA

Collating officers says there were 168 polling units. APC 19,812; PDP 7,691

RESULT: APC WINS

9. Professor Sola Omotola the collation officer  for AKOKO SOUTH EAST LGA which has 11 registration area with a total of 76 polling units.  The result is as follows, APC 6,384; PDP 4,239.

8. APC takes AKURE NORTH by 10,710. PDP receives 6498 votes.

7. APC polled high in OSE LGA – 13,454, while PDP took just 6,520.

Mr Olatunbosun Odunsanya, the collation officer at the local government area said there were “6,3397” total number of registered voters.

He said there was a cancellation at one polling unit.

6. The PDP managed to win ONDO WEST LGA (17,382) which has 233 polling units. AKETI came a close second taking (10,672) of the votes. There were 40,028 accredited voters and 12 registration units in this area.

The collation officer explained that there were cancellations in this LGA due to “over voting and violence.”

5. IRELE LGA which has 132 polling units was also won by APC. Akeredolu who goes by the moniker Aketi received (11,138) compared to PDP’s (5,907). There were 26,225 people accredited to vote in this LGA.

4. The results in IFEDORE LGA also favoured Akeredolu. The former  President of the Nigerian Bar Association received 10,958 of the votes and his closest rival received 6,747.

3. The APC candidate also took AKOKO NORTH EAST LGA with 13,645 and Eyitayo won over 6,496 votes.

2. At ILE OLUJI LGA the APC candidate did much better and scored 10,681 and Mr Jegede, PDP, took 8,306. They were 24,544 total valid votes.

1. The first official vote in ONDO EAST LGA declared 4,253 for Akeredolu, SAN. The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Eyitayo Jegede, SAN received 7,317 of the votes. There were 15,987 accredited votes. The total number of votes cast was 15,971 and there were 941 rejected votes.

Results coming in shows that the APC Candidate has won in Ward 4 Unit 2, 5, 8, 12, 15 and 16.

There are unconfirmed claims going  around that Eyitayo Jegede (PDP) has won his own polling unit by 184. AKETI is said to have scored the second highest votes (77).

We have reports that voting is now over in Oloba Junction, Akure North.

Unconfirmed results have come in from Ori-Okiti, where the candidate of the Alliance for Democracy, Olusola Oke’s supporters are claiming victory.

AKETI finally votes at Ijebu Owo, St Lukes CAC Primary School, Ward 5, Unit 6.

There are no signs of violence in Owo. People are going about their peaceful ways.

Reporters for DENISAURUS confirms that erstwhile PDP candidate, Jimoh Ibrahim who had earlier insisted he is the candidate their candidate is now tweeting support for Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN of the APC.
