Governor Ayodele Fayose’s candidate Kolapo Olusola Eleka has emerged as his party candidate in the Ekiti Governorship election scheduled to hold on 14 July 2018.
Dr Eleka, the current Deputy Governor who is a member of the People Democratic Party, PDP, received 1,191 out of 1,968 votes, in order to defeat his only contender, Dayo Adeyeye at the primaries today.
Biodun Olujimi, a Senator representing Ekiti South stood down from the election at the primaries and directed her supporters to vote for Mr Adeleye. Mr Adeleye polled 770 votes.

Mr Adeleye and Dr Eleka said they were both happy with the results of the primaries, which was chaired by Ifeanyi Okowa, the Governor of Delta State.
Unlike the PDP, the All Progressives Congress, APC’s primaries was marred in violence. A fresh election has been ordered for this Friday.
