At least 60 people were killed in a twin explosion on Tuesday in Mubi, Adamawa State.
The first attack took place at a mosque where worshipers were holding the Zuhr (afternoon) prayer.
Another bomb exploded at a near-by market, while casualties of the first attack were being evacuated.
Boko Haram are said to be behind both attacks.
Police spokesperson in Adamawa State, Othman Abubakar, a Superintendent of Police confirmed the first of the blasts occurred at about 1:00 p.m.
He said: “While people were evacuating the victims of the first blast, another explosion occurred.
“As I am talking to you now, 24 persons are confirmed dead. The scene has been cordoned-off by the Anti-bomb squad and other security personnel.”
Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, an indigene of Adamawa quickly took to twitter to condemn the attack.
He said: “I’m saddened by the news of the suicide bomb attacks in Mubi today. My prayers and thoughts are with the families of the deceased and the injured.”
