Supporters of Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso might leave the All Progressives Congress in a few weeks to either set up a new party or join an existing platform.
Sources within the Kwankwasiyya Amana movement have said the plan is to seek a platform that would help their leader achieve his presidential ambition.
Plans of an exodus from the ruling party by members of the popular grass root Kwankwaso group comes a few hours after President Muhammadu Buhari announced his decision to seek re-election in 2019.
The President has the support of a few governors; among them is the Governor of Kaduna, who first tweeted President Buhari’s proposed plan to stay in office past 2019.
Last month, the coordinator of the Kwankwasiyya Amana movement north zone, Imrana Hussaini had exclusively told DENISAURUS News that the former Governor of Kano was definitely planning on contesting the election in 2019.
Senator Kwankwaso has a strong membership base within the 36 states, but many of them believe he would be unfairly denied the presidential ticket of the APC, because of President Buhari.
So they are calling for him to leave the party now.
