A former Nigerian Finance Minister, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has been appointed into a “high level” commonwealth group.
The group which includes former heads of state and cabinet ministers, was formed in Malta by Patricia Scotland, the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth Secretariat.
A source told the BBC that the group was to hold secret talks on who should take over from the Queen when her reign ends.
But, the group stated in a statement that “the issue of succession of the Head of the Commonwealth is not part of the Group’s mandate.”
