Maryam Sanda, has been arrested following the death of Bilyamin Muhammed Haliru Bello.

Sanda, the wife of Mr Bello, whose father was a former Peoples Democratic Party National Chairman, is accused of stabbing her husband to death last night.

The deceased, who would have turned 36-year in a few days time was said to have been stabbed multiple times by his wife in the chest, shoulder and thigh, after she reportedly saw an SMS on his telephone, on Saturday night at their Maitama residence, Abuja.

She is said to have accused him of cheating before stabbing him.

A twitter user says that Mr Bello was driven to Maitama hospital by neighbours, where he died.

The Public Relations Officer of the Command, Anjuguri Manzah, confirmed that the wife of the deceased was in custody.

Mr Manzah said immediately the Maitama Police Division received the information about the death, it went to the scene and arrested the suspect, who is the wife, Maryam Sanda.

He explained that the FCT command had since taken over the case from Maitama Division and that the suspect was in its custody.

According to him, investigation was ongoing, and that the case would be charged to court and “justice will take its course.”
