Cheick Tiote, a former Newcastle United football player has died.

The 30-year-old Ivorian, who has played for Beijing Enterprises since February, collapsed during training at the Chinese second division club.

A spokesperson said: “It is with deep sadness I confirm that Cheick Tiote sadly passed away earlier today after collapsing in training.
“We cannot say any more at the moment and we request that his family’s privacy be respected at this difficult time. We ask for all your prayers.”
Tributes have come from many including Newcastle United. “We are devastated to have learnt of the tragic passing of former Newcastle United midfielder Cheick Tioté in China today. #NUFC.”
Former Magpie team mate, Demba Ba, tweeted: “may Allah gives grant you jannah brother Tiote.”
