The President of the United States of America, Donald Trump has extended an invitation to President Muhammadu Buhari, PMB, after a phone call between the two leaders.
DENISAURUS News learnt earlier today that the US President was to hold a discussion with his Nigerian and South African counterpart.
Nigeria’s Commander in Chief, who spoke to his US counterpart from his London residence at 2:45 GMT this afternoon, is expected to make a visit “to Washington DC at a mutually convenient date.”

The APC UK confirmed in a press statement posted in its verified twitter account, @APCUKingdom, that the Nigerian President had spoken to President Trump “at the request of the American President.”
The statement signed by Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity added that President Trump and President Buhari had “discussed ways to improve cooperation in the fight against terrorism through the provision of necessary equipment.”
Nigeria’s President has recorded massive successes in the fight against Boko Haram since he was sworn in 2015. The most recent being the recapturing of Camp Zairo, the last strong hold of the radical militant.
The US President “@realDonaldTrump encouraged President @MBuhari to keep up the good work he is doing & also commended him for the efforts made in rescuing 24 of the Chibok Girls and the strides being taken by the Nigerian military.”
President Buhari congratulated the 70-year-old on his “election as President of the United States.”
This is the first time President Trump will be speaking to African leaders since assuming office in January.
