The All Progressives Congress in the United Kingdom has paid tribute to ‘brave’ Nigerian service men and women in its Christmas message.
The party noted the recent recapturing of Sambisa forest as one of the success of the Buhari-led administration.
Boko Haram, an Islamic militants group which operates in the north-east, has killed more than 15,000 people and has displaced two million others.
In April 2014, the sect led by Abubakar Shekau kidnapped more than 200 school girls from Chibok in Borno State.
Since then, 21 of the girls have been released to their families after a deal was brokered by the Red Cross and Swiss government.
The Nigerian troop which has engaged in a major offensive (Operation Lafiya Dole) against the militant group, were able to successfully clear them out of their last camp in Sambisa forest, on December 23.
“This government is determined to fulfill the CHANGE promise it made to Nigerians. This is evident by the successes recorded by our brave soldiers especially the capture of camp-zero in Sambisa forest and rescue of twenty-one Chibok girls,” the statement from APC UK reads.
President Buhari, the Commander in Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces sent a congratulatory message to “all our troops who contributed to this most commendable and momentous effort.”
The APC UK also thanked Nigerians, telling them “all over the world, we, Nigerians are known for our hard work and our ability to succeed in any given situation.
“2016, might have been tough but we all know that tough times don’t last, but tough people do.”
The message highlighted achievements of the APC-led government, such as the introduction of “the national home-grown school feeding programme,” which is slated as one of the social intervention programmes promised to Nigerians by our great party.
It  gave high hopes about the economy and commended President Buhari, for his “submission of the 2017 budget of Recovery and Growth.”

[PRESS RELEASE] TOUGH TIMES DON’T LAST – NIGERIA IS ON THE RIGHT PATH.
On behalf of The Members of All Progressives Congress in the UK, I would like to send you this Christmas greetings.
Christmas is a time most of us spend with our family, friends and other loved ones.
It is a good time to reflect on the events that has happened in the year.
As we reflect on 2016, I’d like to thank all Nigerians for their hard work and support of the APC led administration.
2016, has been an eventful year. Despite the atrocities committed and left behind by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the low price of crude oil, the Buhari administration has introduced the national home-grown school feeding programme, which is one of the social intervention programmes promised to Nigerians by our great party.
The APC government has also kicked off the N-Power employment scheme, amongst other poverty-alleviating schemes, which promoted 200,000 Nigerians out of unemployment to gainful employment.
The employment programme was transparently implemented without any one paying to get an application form or registration fees unlike the employment scam perpetrated by the previous PDP government which led to the untimely death of a number of Nigerian youths.
President Muhammadu Buhari earlier in the year, also launched the programme ‘Change Begins With Me,’ in order to encourage Nigerians to participate in producing the change they would like to see.
This government is determined to fulfil the CHANGE promise it made to Nigerians. This is evident by the successes recorded by our brave soldiers especially the capture of camp-zero in sambisa forest and rescue of twenty-one chibok girls. On reviving the economy, the submission of the 2017 budget of Recovery and Growth by President Buhari has been praised by many Nigerians for focusing on building our Nation’s infrastructure and with zero-padding.
All over the world, we, Nigerians are known for our hard work and our ability to succeed in any given situation. 2016, might have been tough but we all know that tough times don’t last, but tough people do.
As reiterated by Mr Ade Omole during our APC UK engagements and events in London UK, we encourage all Nigerians, at home and abroad, to support Mr President and his cabinet. We implore all and sundry to lay their hands to the distaff and put their backs into supporting this government to build a positive critical mass that would help to kick-start our ailing economy and help this government implement its ideals, goals and vision for the Nation, which is for the betterment of ALL Nigerians and Nigeria. A Nigeria that we can be proud of, to engender the CHANGE which has been the electoral mantra of the APC-led Government.
I wish you a Happy Christmas and a Prosperous 2017.
Adenike Lucas.
