A footballer has sparked controversy when he posted pictures emerged of himself in blackface.

James Norwood, 26, a Tranmere Rovers striker  put the picture of himself painted in head-to-toe black, complete with several sets of sunglasses and a loud speaker, on his own Instagram account.

He also tweeted the photo with the caption: ‘great Xmas do with the boys.. level – fancy dress – completed’.

The non-league footballer has since deleted the post on tweeter and instagram after much uproar from fans.
