Nigeria today is passing through a challenging moment that many attribute to total breakdown of our core values, President Muhammadu Buhari said today at the official launch of the new re-orientation campaign, ‘Change Begins With Me.’
President Buhari who described the government initiative as an opportunity to “help restore our value system,” made an appeal to all Nigerians to be part of this campaign, explaining that “the change they want to see begins with them.”
He said: “It is safe to say that honesty, hard work, Godliness have given way to all kinds of manifestations of lawlessness and degeneration in our national life.”
“This is why we have among our cardinal objectives ‘change,’ which implies the need for a change of attitude and mindset in our everyday life,” he said at the campaign which took place at the Presidential Banquet Hall in Abuja.
The President whose campaign promise includes fighting corruption believes that change must come from each individual.
“We are under no illusion that the change we seek can happen overnight. Therefore, I appeal for all to be part of this,” he said in his speech.
The campaign planned by the Federal Ministry of Information is an offshoot of the change mantra of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
President Buhari stated: “before you ask ‘where is the change they promised us’, you must first ask how far I changed my ways.”
“If you have not seen the change in you, you would not see it in others or even the larger society,” he added to rapturous applause from the guests.
