The All Progressives Congress in Ondo State has officially nominated Chief Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN as its gubernatorial candidate in the upcoming Governorship election in the state.
Chief Akeredolu, a senior lawyer and former 2012 Governorship candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, gained 669 votes out of the 2,774 votes available.

His closest rival Mr Olusegun Abraham received a total of 635 votes in the elections that took place on Saturday, September 3, 2016 in Akure.
Today’s result announced by the Jigawa State Governor Alhaji Baderu Abubakar shocked a few people who thought Mr Abraham already had the election in the bag.
Twenty four candidates contested for the Governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Amongst them was Dr. Tunji Abayomi who secured only 5 votes.

Former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Chief Akeredolu who hails from Owo is to face another lawyer Mr Eyitayo Jegede SAN, the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, in the elections scheduled to take place on November 26.
