President Muhammadu Buhari made a surprise telephone call to the Nigerian football team a few hours before their opening World Cup match against Croatia.
DENISAURUS News understands that the President assured Super Eagles, Nigeria’s senior football team of the full support of the nation.
The 75-year-old later took to twitter to wish them good luck.
“180 million Nigerians have looked forward to today with great excitement,” he wrote via his verified handle,@MBuhari.
“On behalf of all, I wish the Super Eagles the best of luck, as they display the gallant Nigerian spirit that sets us apart.”
Nigeria is in Group D and would play Croatia at 8PM today.
